Meghloom is a producer enterprise founded by Khasi Eri silk rearers, hand spinners, dyers, and weavers. Meghloom brings hand-spun, naturally dyed, handwoven Eri Silk products from the Eastern hills of the Himalayas. The company is being promoted in partnership with Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) and FDRVC as Technical Support Agency to implement the approved intervention plan for the PC.
Set in the local rural economy, Meghloom produces Eri silk reared, spun, dyed and woven by us in the villages of the Ribhoi district of East Khasi Hills. Extending the people a heart of our labour of love, we create exclusive natural dye extracted from the local fauna from our villages.
Meghloom's mission is to create economic opportunities for rural women by using traditional skills and knowledge passed down through generations, producing high-quality and crafted products.
Mobilisation activity is to create awareness about the cluster intervention and the producer company formation. List down about the advantages of a producer company over existing production models. Finally, create interest among the artisans to become part of the Producer company.
A Mobilisation form has been developed by FDRVC to facilitate the data collection of interested artisans. Mobilisation activity would be taken up in supervision of the block team incharge of the project and the process is facilitated by CDE.
The interested artisans to be registered as members of the producer company. A detailed membership form to be filled up by the Block team assisted by the Cluster Development Executive. An application fee along with shares capital would be collected from the applicants to be deposited to the PC Bank Account.
A Membership form has been developed and needs to be submitted to CDE for approval and further processing of the application.
Producer Company members go through a skill assessment to ascertain their skill level as producing artisans and this assessment helps the PC team to plan the training requirements for the members.
Design development team wil define the assessment test along with methodology to conduct the assessment under the supervision of the TSA team. Assessment results are documented on the MIS to further plan training, sampling and production needs of the Producer Company.
Based on the assessment result and training calendar would be prepared for the members and module wise training would be provided based on the requirements. Training would be conducted by a trainer from the design development team as the training will be planned as per market feedback of the products to be produced in the PC.
Training activities would be maintained on the MIS with details of the members completed training and topics covered in the training programme.
New Product development and sampling is an ongoing activity to create a product portfolio of the Producer company. The samples produced are under the design development workshop planned for the PC members.
Samples would be developed on the basis of marketing assessment of similar product categories and skill level assessment of the members involved in the workshop. First samples along with tech specs and training sheets would be developed by the design development team and then post workshop duplication of the samples would be developed by the PC members
A Product Catalogue would be prepared from the selected product samples developed. This catalogue would be used to source orders for the PC. In addition to B2B order sourcing through networking. An effort would be made to build brand awareness of the PC through multiple channels such as social media, Saras, Exhibitions and events.
A brand identity is also being developed to create awareness about the artisans company brand and its craft, culture and product line.
A production planning and development would start on the basis of sample replication and order sourced from the market channels.
A record of revenue details would be captured on the MIS detailing buyer and product details
The Producer company comes under Companies Act and involves a lot of compliances. To maintain all the companies related compliances and also strengthen the governance of the organisation a Board of Directors have been selected from the artisans members.
All compliance related activities and documents are captured under the Governance on the MIS documenting activities like - B.o.D. meetings, Annual General Meetings and others related compliances.
All the expenses incurred under the project as per the Cluster Development Scoping Report financial budget would be captured on two levels. One on the accounting software adopted by the Producer Company and second level on the MIS to capture complete details of the expense based on heading and subb-heading defined in the budget.
CSC and RC to be identified by the State Team along with CDE. The equipment and tools would be procured through the procurement policy adopted by the PC. These activities would be captured in MIS and would be part of the MPR. Recruitment advertisements would be foated by TSA on major job portals and Interview would be conducted in presence of TSA team and a representative from OLM. Board Members Training would be on PC Governance and roles and responsibilities of Board of Members. Any delay in activities would result in shift of project deliverables timelines.
